Short answer
To register for RCS Business Messaging with SMSTAKE, prepare four sets of information: your company details, your brand assets (a 100-character description, a 224 x 224 px logo and a 1440 x 448 px banner), website compliance links (terms, privacy policy and a consent form), and legal documents (a GST certificate or incorporation document, and a PAN card). Having everything ready and consistent before you start avoids back-and-forth during brand verification.
RCS Business Messaging lets your business send messages that go well beyond plain text. Customers can see rich cards with images and buttons, swipe through carousels of products or offers, and tap suggested replies and actions instead of typing. After your brand is verified and your RCS agent is launched, your messages can show your business name and logo, and Google Messages adds a verification mark, so customers can see the message really comes from you.
Before any of that, your brand has to be registered and verified. Google and the mobile networks check that the business, the brand and the person approving the registration all match. This guide lists everything SMSTAKE asks for, with the exact sizes and limits Google sets. Availability of RCS still depends on each customer's device, network and provider support.
Section 1: Company information
These details identify the legal business behind the RCS agent. They should match your legal documents exactly, so copy them from your GST certificate or incorporation document rather than typing them from memory.
Legal company name
The registered name of your business, spelled exactly as it appears on your GST certificate or incorporation document and your PAN card. Your customer-facing brand name can be different. For example, a company registered as "Example Retail Private Limited" can run an agent called "Example Store".
Business address
Your registered business address, including PIN code. If you operate from several locations, use the address on your legal documents.
Phone number
A business phone number your customers can call. Google can show it on your agent's profile, so use a number that is answered. Google asks for numbers in international format, for example +91 followed by the 10-digit number. Some 1800 toll-free numbers in India can't be written in that format; tell us if yours is one of them so it can be handled separately.
Corporate email ID
An email address on your own business domain, such as official@yourdomain.com, not a free webmail address. A domain email shows that the registration comes from the business that owns the website.
Also name an authorised person. During brand verification, Google emails an individual at your business, not a shared inbox or distribution list, to confirm the agent details and that SMSTAKE may manage the agent for you. Share the name and work email of someone with the authority to approve this, and ask them to reply promptly when the email arrives.
Section 2: Brand and marketing information
These assets are what customers see. Once verification details are submitted, Google doesn't let you edit them, and the logo and banner can't be changed after verification, so finalise everything first.
| Asset | Size or limit |
|---|---|
| Company description | Up to 100 characters, plain text |
| Logo | 224 x 224 px, up to 50 KB |
| Banner image | 1440 x 448 px, up to 200 KB |
| Brand colour | A hex colour with at least 4.5:1 contrast against white |
Website URL
The full address of your business website, such as https://www.yourdomain.com. It must be live and publicly accessible, because reviewers check it during launch approval. It should belong to the same business as your legal documents and your corporate email domain.
Company description (100 characters)
A short tagline that tells customers who you are and what messages to expect, in 100 characters or fewer including spaces. Google doesn't allow HTML, code, templates or nested brackets in it. An example of 52 characters: "Orders, delivery updates and offers from Your Brand."
Logo (224 x 224 px)
- Exactly 224 x 224 px, with a file size of 50 KB or less.
- Google Messages crops logos into a rounded square, so leave even space around your logo on all sides so its edges aren't cut off.
- Avoid a transparent background. A transparent logo can disappear against dark mode, so use a solid background such as white.
Banner (1440 x 448 px)
- Exactly 1440 x 448 px (a 45:14 ratio), with a file size of 200 KB or less.
- The banner appears at the top of your agent's information screen, and your logo partly overlaps it. Keep important text and faces away from the area where the logo sits.
- Use a simple, uncluttered image. Small text is hard to read on a phone screen.

Section 3: Website compliance
Google requires working links to both your terms and your privacy policy before an agent can launch, and reviewers check that they are public and load correctly. Make sure these pages are on the website you listed above, not behind a login.
Terms & Conditions URL
A public page with your terms of service, for example https://www.yourdomain.com/terms. It should name your business and apply to the services you will message customers about.
Privacy Policy URL
A public page explaining how you collect and use customer data, for example https://www.yourdomain.com/privacy. It should cover phone numbers and the messages you send, and explain how customers can stop receiving them.
Consent and opt-in form
Your RCS messages should go only to people who have agreed to hear from you. During launch review, you describe what triggers each message and how users opt in, and reviewers check that your outreach matches the consent customers gave. A clear opt-in on your website, app or checkout makes this easy to show. A good consent form:
- Uses a checkbox the customer ticks themselves, never one that is pre-ticked.
- Names your business and the kind of messages they will get, such as order updates or offers.
- Explains how to stop, for example by replying STOP.
- Links to your privacy policy.
Keep a record of when and where each customer opted in. Your agent must also support the STOP keyword and reply with a clear confirmation that the customer won't receive further messages.
Illustrative example of opt-in wording: "I agree to receive order updates and offers from Your Brand on RCS and SMS. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. See our Privacy Policy." Adapt it to your own messages and channels.
Section 4: Legal and verification documents
SMSTAKE asks for these documents to confirm that your business is genuine and that the details you've given match. Clear, complete scans or PDFs help avoid delays. Share them only through the channel our team gives you during onboarding.
GST certificate or incorporation document
Your GST registration certificate, or a certificate of incorporation or equivalent registration document if you don't have GST. The legal name and address on it should match Section 1.
PAN card
The PAN card issued in your business's name. If you are a sole proprietor or your business doesn't have its own PAN, tell our team and we'll confirm what to share instead.
For launch in India, Google also asks for your DLT Principal Entity ID, so keep it ready. If you don't have one yet, SMSTAKE offers free DLT registration support to any business, including non-customers. Approvals are made by the operator's DLT platform, and operator fees, where applicable, are separate.
Your RCS registration checklist

Once these are ready, the agent is built, tested on approved test phones, verified and submitted for launch. Our RCS onboarding checklist explains those steps. Verification and launch decisions are made by Google and the mobile networks, so we can't guarantee approval or a fixed timeline.
